News release: Work program planned for South Voisey Bay project
Mandorin Goldfields Inc.
Thu 13 Nov 97 News Release
Also Donner Minerals Ltd (DML)
Mr Andrew Cooke reports
Mandorin Goldfields has received commitments from Donner Minerals to carry out a work program on its property in 1998.
Mandorin has a joint venture with Donner over the 200 mineral claims comprising mineral licence number 3104M at South Voisey Bay, east of Notakwanon River. The property is in excess of 48 sq km immediately on the western border of Donner's Northern Abitibi joint venture property where Donner has reported results from holes 67 and 75 which intersected intervals of massive sulphide mineralization. The Mandorin property begins approximately 6km from holes 67 and 75.
Donner is the operator of the exploration program on Mandorin's property and is currently preparing detailed programs and budgets for their 1998 campaign in South Voisey Bay. It is contemplated that initially this will include a gravity survey over the southeastern portion of Mandorin's property as gravity surveys have been most effective in delineating the gabbroic intrusions identified to date. Donner has advised Mandorin that gravity data which outlined a strong anomaly in the Northern Gabbro area is
open to the west and northwest and the 1998 program will in part be designed to test for extensions in those directions.
It is envisaged that the 1998 work program will also include detailed mapping over the southeastern portion of Mandorin's property.
Results of the Donner/Teck 1997 work program to date have been considered encouraging and identified intrusive rocks which are similar in character to those hosting the world class Voisey Bay nickel deposits found in a similar geological environment approximately 90km to the north.
