Re DDIM contract with Kaiser

I may be able to shed some light on this agreement. Northern California Kaiser began at least two years ago to work on a project to expand the medical record number tracking system from seven digits to eight digits. Accomplishing this, of course, necessitated the same type of conversion of many applications that y2k compliance requires, so the honchos decided to begin y2k compliance concurrently with this effort. A protracted timetable for both efforts was devised and to my knowledge was proceeding on shecdule. Various tools were used including one from a SF-based company whose name escapes me, but which was bought by PLAT.

Meanwhile, one of the former IT honchos from Kaiser went to work for DDIM, I believe. In my estimation, this contract reveals the fact that Kaiser pulled together a national coordinated effort that was lacking six months ago, realized the job to be larger than expected, could not be managed in-house, and that Kaiser data centers other than Oakland, most particularly LA, realized they were hopelessly behind and had to take radical measures to complete the job on schedule.

IMO.
