I don't think he did. I believe his position was basically a moral one: That people should have a right of self-determination. Which means that the U.S. cannot insist on a particular outcome, that we only can grease the skids toward giving them the opportunity. His position was that given a choice, people will choose freedom over tyranny.

I don't discount the influence of the social media in this: I just don't think it could be happening without a way for people to communicate effectively.

I would be surprised if we don't see another attempt at an uprising in Iran. Perhaps this time Obama will be more supportive.
