Music Unlimited Powered by Qriocity, Sony’s answer to iTunes, has now been launched in four major European countries, having previously only operated in the UK and Ireland.

The cloud-based music streaming service, which was launched last month, has now been rolled out across France, Germany, Italy and Spain. Users are able to access music from Sony Music Group, EMI, Warner Music Group, Universal and a number of leading independent record labels.

The service allows users to stream music to Sony devices such as Walkman MP3 players, Bravia TVs, PlayStation 3 consoles, Blu-ray players and Vaio computers, as well as Android-based mobile devices and other portable devices.

"Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity' will not only enhance customers' Sony devices by unifying their music experiences and content, but will further open up access, create music discovery opportunities, and spawn new listening possibilities for customers," said Kazuo Hirai, president of Networked Products and Services Group for Sony, in a statement.

"We will continue to develop services 'powered by Qriocity,' in order to provide a greater value proposition to our customers around the world."

Sony has yet to announce any plans to launch the service in the US, although the quick roll out to Europe suggests that this may not be far off. Bloomberg speculates that it will arrive in the US sometime this quarter.
