I think I'm going to KIND OF agree with the gist of what i-node is talking about.

This is a huge struggle. As the stakes get bigger and struggle get more intense and desperate, companies with power, even if originally well intended, bend to using unfair tactics.

They might not want to, but when sticks come to sticks they are going to use what ever tools they have to survive and compete.

I think Apple does use it's economic lead to shut out and squeeze competitors when it suits them. I think Microsoft did too. And Sony, and everyone else.

Apple didn't set up our economic system, just like they didn't hire slave labor. Our system almost guarantees the misuse of power. It's ugly, all around.

Whether or not these tactics will benefit Apple or come back and bite them in the äss is really the question.

There are no REAL open systems. Linux gets close though and it hasn't really succeeded as well as one might have predicted for obvious reasons...
