Whether or not these tactics will benefit Apple or come back and bite them in the äss is really the question.

The jury is back with the verdict: Benefit. the award is being the second most valuable company on the planet.

Seriously you can whine all you want about closed v. open from a consumer perspective. But Apple has proved the closed case from a value perspective.
