Ted, I don't get why Nicholas Kristof is arguing against straw men:

The only ones who believed that stereotype were left-wingers who opposed the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

Curiously, Kristof makes no mention of those two countries in his column. Maybe because the NYTimes editors wouldn't like giving the "neocons" an inch.
