This mindset (not yours) puzzles me. I once sat through a divorce hearing where the issue was support and maintenance. The gentlemen, a small biz owner, whose wife was seeking the support testified at length about his income as did his accountant who put on the company financials, tax returns, etc....to show that the amount his wife wanted would not be supported by the income the guy was able to derive from business unless he lived in his car. No countervailing evidence was produced by the wife. The Judge ruled from the bench at the conclusion of the hearing stating that he knew all small business men lied about their income and granted the wife's request. Totally disregarded the evidence and went with the same sort of mindset you see on display here.
