$50 Samsung Galaxy Mini budget Android made official Revealed alongside Move handset, both to be available from T-Mobile By MARK JONES Published: 16 February, 2011 rethink-wireless.com A rumour that was going round back in January has proved to be true as the Samsung Galaxy Mini has been revealed at the Mobile World Congress. Samsung's popular Galaxy S range is filled with high-end handsets but now consumers looking for a more affordable device will be able to enjoy the Galaxy experience in the form of the Mini. Also announced in the budget category was the Move and both handsets will be available from T-Mobile. The specs may well be the definition of unimpressive for a smartphone but it is the low price tag which is expected to win buyers over. Running Android 2.2 the Galaxy S Mini comes with a 3.2" display and a 600MHz ARM processor under the hood. Internal memory is a low 150MB but it can be expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card and there's also a 3mp camera. It does feature 3G connectivity though the budget component will only allow for download speeds of 3.6mbps. Similarly spec'd to the Mini the Move has a smaller 2.8" display and is powered by a 600MHz chip. Internal memory is the same at 150MB which likewise can be expanded and ships with a 2GB memory card in the box. There's a camera on the back of the device with a resolution that is low for even a feature phone at 2mp. Samsung were also on hand at the show to flaunt three other budget devices in a similar vein to the Galaxy Mini; the Ace, Gio and Fit. All run Android 2.2 with little variation in the internal specs though the Ace does pack a faster 800MHz and comes with a 5mp camera. Both the Mini and Move will be available in the US in the Spring, with the Mini going on sale first in Europe during May. It is expected the handsets will cost $50 - $75 on a two-year contract.
