Cause if they leave it at the same $600 for the 32GB version, that could mean that their margins could also take a hit from the already lower margins of the iPad versus the iPhone.

It's a given that the iPad2 will have lower margins at launch than the iPad does as it nears the end of its lifecycle, but a year ago, the BOM for the iPad was probably not any less than it will be for the iPad2 even with the added cost of retooling, new processor, adding a camera or 2, etc. Certainly, the iPad2 will have a lot more scale than the iPad did. The lowest priced iPad at launch probably carried 15% margins at best, and the iPad2's GM will probably be higher, even at the same price.
