Patrick, you might be perfectly happy being one of those 80%. Yes, I choose to run Windows on my system. But it isn't a happy choice. In order to stay in business, I have to be compatible with the rest of the miserable world. It's kinda hard to jump ship and boycott Windows when it's the only OS product on the market which I can use, and still maintain enough compatibility with the rest of the world, for me to stay in business. I consider this to be a monopolized market, for those reasons. Java is just a language. If Java can succeed as a multiplatform language, so can others. The point is that I'll be able to choose between Java, or the next thing that comes along to follow in Java's footsteps, or surpasses Java. I would have a choice. I could write my applications on a Wonderbyte hardware platform running a SuperWidgets OS, and choose Java or Decaf or whatever, and I'd be able to choose something else and still stay in business. The current system is just not right IMO.

I actually think that Word and Excel are very good applications. It's not those Microsoft applications I have a problem with. Those products have to compete with the Corel and other products on the market. If MS has the best office stuff, then they will win that market fairly. I'm okay with that. It's the OS thing I have a problem with.
