>>>> Like Apple, Sun, SGI, BEos, etc. Do you mean companies like these? You talk as if customer do not have a choice. They do, and they have made it. It is called Microsoft.
Oh, please, Reg, don't tell me that this is a real choice in the corporate market. Please be objective. You know that companies don't buy OSes, they buy specific software to do specific functions, and then only have a choice from among the OSes that run that software. In most cases, most of the software they need is only available for MSFT OSes, and not on Apple, Sun, or SGI. BEOS? Yeah, lots of software for the corporate market runs on it. Moreover, with the only real alternative in the desktop market (Apple) that has any substantial marketshare in decline, companies are finding it harder to choose anything other than MSFT, even when end-users clamor for Macs, because of fear that Apple will soon be history. I suppose that companies do have another choice, which is not to use computers, and get left in the dust. If you think that they really have a choice, then you either have no understanding of what's really going on or else have lost any sense of objectivity. |
