I was living in Basalt (17 miles down valley from Aspen) when Early Winters was proposed. I was really hoping it would get off the ground, but wasn't surprised that it didn't. If I was a resident of Mazama, to this day I would regret that. Ski resorts don't spoil local environments. If anything, they enhance them and make them prosperous and encourage strident green practices. Hundreds of thousands of people derive great pleasure from them and local populations thrive.

I try to hit the major ski areas in Wa State every winter.......Baker, Chrystal, Alpental and my local hill is Stevens Pass. My new fav is White Pass. I wish I had the time and money to spend a winter hitting all of the major BC ski areas. Of the ones I have skied, I've never, ever been disappointed.
