>>>>I wonder why these companies are using Mpact when Ziva has better video? The only reasons I can think of are:

1. CUBE pissed off some companies.
2. We're being sandbagged.
3. Toshiba offers a cheap price for DVD-ROM drives if you buy them with Mpact.
4. Mpact comes with graphics capabilities, so you don't need a separate graphics card. This is advertised, but I do not know if it is currently tr>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Mpact is a system on a chip, a mother board play, a diffucult sell.
Mpact is highly programable as it has a microcode architecture
---it does 3d graphics
--mpeg 1 encoding (chromatics)
--DVD decoding
--fax modem
--Telephony
So, we really are comparing apples and oranges. Yes , there is a market for this type of design. Most computer companies
will want to have control of these different systems and be able to use the most current technology.
What if the board designer wants to incorporate the latest 3d graphics tech from Rendition. Sorry, to bad, have to respin a board. What about the latest fax/telephony technology from USR. Sorry, too bad.
Mpact has its place in the market, and is good technology, but shouldnt eat into the forcasted
computer business that Cube is engaged with. Only a few of the big dogs will want a single chip that does everything. This a major commitment that a computer co. has to make to toshiba. Some will want better dvd quality and go with Cube, some will want flexibility for next generation designs and won't want to lock in.
