>> Chasing Reagan for the exit.

The reality is that it takes many decades for a president's true historical significance to be known.

It took 50 years after FDR's Social Security program was enacted for the cracks to appear -- now, 30 years later, the full collapse is threatening. After 100 years, the abject failure of social security will be apparent to even the most devoted liberals.

And only after a competent history of Truman was written (David McCullough's) has there been a resurgence of support for him.

As the Middle East is reformed, JUST AS GEORGE W. BUSH PREDICTED, as a result of the Iraq War and Freedom Agenda, we don't yet know whether a billion people will be freed as a result or if they'll return to living under tyranny. 50 years from now these questions will be answered, and that, more than anything else, will determine the legacy of Bush.

Reagan's popularity is based on his single-handed ending of the Cold War and nuclear proliferation as we then knew it. I understand, you were even more clueless about such matters than you are today (if possible).
