BREAKING..Active Android Market URLs Point to Music, Movies Coming Soon
by Quentyn Kennemer on February 21st, 2011 at 8:07 am
phandroid.com

We’ve heard the rumors: Google wanted to take on Apple and their iTunes suite. More than just apps, the Android market is poised to become a music downloading service, a digital library, and even a film repository. Books already has its own tab on Honeycomb’s Android market. And we already know of Google’s plans to eventually release a music service. Movies is a new one.

But when is all of this going down? We’re not sure when exactly these URLs went live, but the following list of them point to the Android market landing page:

market.android.com
market.android.com
market.android.com

Notable considering you’ll get a 404 error if you try to replace “music”, “movies”, or “books” with any other word. I tried “phandroid” for fun, and “games” for a more serious test.

It’s been nearly a year since we last heard of Google’s plans to become a multimedia download repository through Android. That news came right around the time that the web-based market was introduced, so it would appear these series of announcements aren’t far off.

Google I/O is coming up and it would be a perfect avenue for Google to introduce them, but Google could very well debut this stuff before then. You know we’ll be on the lookout every day, regardless. [via Android Guys]
