Remarkable Extremes:

...technology assets in the Rydex fund family have reached over 25% of all Rydex assets – in other words, Rydex traders have adopted a concentrated long exposure in two of the highest beta sectors of the market (the other sector they have piled into is energy). This tendency is also confirmed by Mark Hulbert's measure of exposure to technology stocks as recommended by market letter writers, which resides at 73.3% – not surprisingly right where it was last in April of 2010. Concurrently, trading volume in over-the-counter stocks – the riskiest sector of the market by far – has just reached a new record high...

J. Goepfert's option speculation index, which measures bullish and bearish options transactions as a ratio across all exchanges, has in recent months produced three record highs in close succession – and it is working on a fourth one (high in the case of this index means speculation on rising prices, while low indicates the opposite). The smallest option traders are piling into calls with abandon. Not to be left behind, mutual fund managers hold the second lowest cash reserve (by 10 basis points – it resides at 3.5%) in all of history – and the history of this indicator is going back to the 1950s...

As capitulations of prominent bears go, we would be remiss not to mention the conversion of famed prophet of doom Nouriel Roubini, who has apparently just turned bullish on the U.S. stock market...
