An iceberg order (buy or sell) is an order that is used to disguise the total size of the order. For example someone may have a buy order for 500,000 but it may show as a bid for 25,000. It would automatically replace for another 25,000 once the first 25,000 was filled. This would continue until the complete order was filled. This is done so as to not scare the market one way or the other.
