I assume that if you choose not to get the Zoom's subsidized pricing, you can still opt-in to Verizon data plans on a month-to-month obligation-free basis? Nice to have the option of $200 off for those planning on getting a data plan continuously.

Don't know if they have a pay as you go program. But the point of the article was that the subsidy made the Xoom competitive. For some that would use the data anyway I suppose. For me, no.
