Because they had ROTC at one time does not mean they are/were a Land Grant school. In fact, they can't be as Harvard was established before there were federal lands to give away, along with the fact that they are a private institution. However, they do receive many millions of dollars in federal research grants and student loans.

On the West Coast, Stanford is another example of a private school where they are considering the restoration of ROTC.

As I said, I think this more a reflection of changing sentiments than the elimination of any specific objections to presence of a military culture on campuses. Society at large is much more accepting and appreciative off military service. In fact, I suspect the new and growing anti establishment culture on campuses these days is more accepting of Sen. Ron Paul than it would be of former Sen. Eugene McCarthy, Democrat/Anti war candidate for president, '68.
