>>Why do I love OS X so much? You put your finger on it: not only is it friendly as can be, it can run DOS, every version of Windows, Linux, you name it. Even when it is running on any hackintosh.<<
You nailed it. And you didn't even mention Unix.
Now why would a computer professional want a machine like that? Hey, turns out real ones do.
In the latter half of the nineties I worked for a high-end network consulting company. We had clients like American Express, Salomon Bros., Deutsche Banks, and so on. Little mom and pop outfits.
Sadly, that consulting company was left holding the bag when two large clients filed for Chapter 11, and it was slowly dismantled. Since then, most of the professionals who were my colleagues there have bought Macs, including the ones who had been big Linux fans.
I know there are lots of IT guys who don't like Macs, but they're the ones who grew up with Windows, and that's pretty much all they know. |
