I upgraded my xp laptop to Win 7 a while back. I found that after installing Windows 7 Activation Update: KB971033 I was unable to start my computer, and had to use the Windows 7 repair disk to get get it working. When I first installed the upgrade I entered the wrong key and had problems. I then wiped the computer an installed wrong version of XP which made things worse. Now I am concerned that installing sp1 would bring me back to where I was just after installing the Activation Update? Will deleting previous windows installations, temporary windows installation files, files discarded by windows upgrades, and windows upgrade file log remove the problem?
