More importantly, if significantly reduced stimulus and austerity come into play during 2011, multiple contractions will occur in the stock market too. Natural growth rates already suggest substantially lower levels had QE2 not happened, but simple math tells us that GDP expectations for 2011 have almost doubled as well. A high-school student could calculate what the removal of stimulus would do.

As always, Wall Street has acted before the news, and during 2011 the true face of our economy will be revealed. Prepare to buy the following short-based ETFs during the month of January:

1. ProShares UltraShort Russell 2000 /quotes/comstock/13*!twm/quotes/nls/twm (TWM 11.83, +0.38, +3.32%)

2. iPath S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures ETN /quotes/comstock/13*!vxx/quotes/nls/vxx (VXX 34.20, +0.19, +0.56%)

3. ProShares UltraShort Financials /quotes/comstock/13*!skf/quotes/nls/skf (SKF 14.39, +0.16, +1.12%)

4. ProShares UltraShort Real Estate ETF /quotes/comstock/13*!srs/quotes/nls/srs (SRS 16.28, -0.07, -0.43%)

These short-based ETFs are volatile, and therefore timing will be important. I will update my timing in the next MarketWatch column, and in real time on Stock Traders Daily; the time will come and I expect it in January. The curtain is about to be pulled back, and the Wizard revealed for who he truly is.
