Thanks for those references. Interesting reading, and a learning experience for me about "signing statements".
So, it appears there is precedent for a president, upon signing an act into law, for listing his praise, or criticism, or even his intentions to not enforce. ...wondering if that would leave the enforcement option to a future administration, or would the law be be binding upon a future president?
In the case at hand, anyway, O*ama is choosing to not enforce a law that has been on the books for 15 some odd years. Both that congress and that administration are completely removed from this one.
Interesting, too, to see that between Regan and O*ama, Clinton issued the fewest signing statements.
BTW, I do recognize that you and I have the same sentiments here, just some difference of the legality, though my case is weakening against your evidence.
