Dear Person of Good Will,

Stop Corporate Polluter Handouts
Share this page on FacebookShare this page on TwitterShare this page with other services

Last week the House of Representatives passed a bill that amounts to an all out assault on our health and environment.

House members used this funding bill (a Continuing Resolution) to slash the EPA's budget more than we’ve seen in 30 years. If the bill is signed into law, it will be impossible for the agency to do its job - protecting the public – you and me – from Big Oil and Coal pollution.

The Senate has the power to stop this Republican assault on our health and environment. Tell your Senators to reject the House’s short-sighted bill, and instead give Americans the solutions they deserve.

By passing their funding bill, members of the House have put the health of millions of Americans at risk while doing nothing to create jobs or grow the economy. Adding insult to injury, the House also voted to continue government handouts to wealthy corporate polluters, a move that would cost American taxpayers billions of dollars.

But it’s not too late! The Senate must vote on their version of the funding bill by March 4. We can roll back these assaults on landmark environmental legislation, but only with your help! Take action NOW – tell your Senators we need clean air, water, and economic growth, not more government handouts for corporate polluters.

The House bill undercuts some of our nation's most fundamental health and environmental laws by reducing funding for transportation choices that would help end our oil dependence, gutting Clean Water Act protections for our drinking water, endangering our wild places, and undermining the Endangered Species Act.

The House passage of the Continuing Resolution kicks American families and workers while they’re down. Tell your senators to reject this short-sighted bill from the House, and instead pass a clean bill that protects our health, not corporate polluter profits.

Thank you for all you do to protect the environment.

Sincerely,

Sarah Hodgdon
Conservation Director

PS: After taking action, please forward your email to five of your friends – we need as many signatures as we can get to stop this attack on landmark environmental legislation!
