There is considerable concern about the vulnerability to the Year 2000 problem of European enterprises and public administrations as well as about the possible consequences for consumers. Although this issue is subject to considerable levels of media exposure, the level of actual preparation appears to be insufficient, in spite of the substantial risk of disruption to businesses as well as public services.
