The new PCs we get now come with a starter version of Microsoft Office, which I don't see anyone removing (or needing to upgrade). OTOH, Mac users have to buy Microsoft Office lest they be cut off from the rest of the world.
It is six of one and a half dozen of the other. Except you have to BUY software to make the Mac usable, whereas, you can download for free most of what you need to make a typical OEM PC usable. If you buy Dells you do get crapware which is the reason we don't.
Once again, it comes down to TCO for the enterprise and there really is just not a comparison at all. We buy fast quad cores with 500GB/4GB, W7 Pro for $600 or a little more. No hassle with buying additional software to make it run Windows, working the kinks out, etc.
Honestly, I would question the qualifications of anyone who recommended Macs for a serious business network. Fine for home use or for developing iOS apps, but just a waste of time/money for enterprise installs. |
