Why can't you just be a Christian? Well you can. I find it amazing that most of the atheists online I meet are former CAtholics .... I recall Solon, I think it was, asking me if I didn't acknowledge the CAtholic church as the origin of my faith. What an astounding question. Of course not! Read the New Testament - there's a vast gulf between first century Christianity and the Empire serving institution Constantine and Theodosius created. Which is not to say I don't acknowledge CAtholics as fellow Christians, I do. But Jesus and the New Testament scriptures are the root of Christianity. Not some earthly institution created by some emporers.
