Hey Ed, I used your uncle's computer (not really that one, but one of the type that became widely available in the 50s). That was an analog computer. The warmup time allowed the output voltages from the tubes to stabilize. Later versions of analog computers utilized stabilizing circuits (called choppers) which allowed the computer to be stabilized without reliance on room air conditioning set at very low temperatures. I used the analog computer to simulate aircraft flight in the design of the X-15 aircraft. Tulvio
