Verizon: Motorola XOOM No Longer Requires One Month of Data to Unlock WiFi

Pathetically, I walked into a Best Buy today and the salesclerk was trying to strongarm his Xoom customer into a data contract, saying that it would be a useless brick without the wifi enabled via a Verizon contract. I suggested out loud that the customer activate it at home, if it turns out to be necessary.

Were you happy with the Xoom launch? Pretty low key from what I could tell (no lines, no sell outs). Probably Apple's "coincidental" announcement of their upcoming iPad2 announcement took a lot of wind out of Xoom's sales.
