SOTA is intriquing to me, but I've got more work to do. GPSI seems remarkably comparable so one is overpriced or one is underpriced.

SOTA vs GPSI: I like the supposed ease of migration from SOTA's DOS non-Y2K to their Windows y2k compliant products, this should spur stable business for several quarters.

SOTA also started out with open tools for their high end acuity product (VB). I like that alot. GPSI statrted with dexterity, but i think they support vb now as well. It's a more confusing tools strategy. As a private company GPSI has had execution that was even more inconsistent than SOTA, so i don't think the valuations should be that distant.

However, it seems to me that SOTA is a little behind in delivering a complete suite for the high end mid range customer. I don't expect solid results for SOTA until they deliver (and the channel learns to market) the complete acuity suite. expect more releases sometime over the next few quarters.

I worry about PSQL because they have a mixed channel, both direct and VAR. Channel conflict is very ugly and difficult for VARS to swallow.

I don't know timberline except i used to see their stuff years ago in the proeprty management business. I'm not sure they have the necessary critical mass to target the more lucrative high end mid range. ($25 million to $250 million revenues)

I haven't studied JDEC for a while. But, I'm skeptical about all of the big vendors ability to scale down to reach the VAR channel, especially when a var knows that the company might take away any big deal that they uncover.
