Actually I got it to work that way and showed someone - he was as impressed as I was. But I never got as far as getting the
"persistence" opton going. It was on a 4GB USB (memory) drive.

An alternative would be to get it going on a real USB HDD - that would help with speed and space.

Jochen's comment on the VMWare is another goodie. A friend of mine has used that for years with good results.

I am in your camp too Steve - dual booting is sort of the "old way" of doing things. I am glad I am not alone in my suffering.

Really good stuff here everyone - between this and building my own box - lot of renewed interest to get back at doing some of these things myself - with better ideas.
