You got it wrong. The meat and potatoes is right here: *social media applications and the like must leverage the Android Contacts API, but Facebook was granted an exception that allowed its contact data to remain in the cloud.* So what is hollow is the fact that facebook is NOT using the Android Contact API that everyone else is using... that is the standard way... all Facebook has to do is adhere to the standard..
