I had a great time watching all the fun today. I held the Dec25s,that I "accidentally" bought yesterday. I thought about taking the 5 1/2 bid prior to the big announcement, but I got in yesterday to be in should the news be really great. Tried to buy some Feb30s but they never retreated as much as the stock did today.
Overall, I am very pleased with the news. Analysis here touches most bases. IOM will not be a one product company. Hopefully, those companies "supporting" IOM's Clik have learned from the DVD market squabbles and have deliberately chosen a different path. I am also pleased with the last announcement by LSI. If this company has a working mechanism to capture 1-4meg quality images at an OEM acceptable price, it would require at least a 40meg storage device to provide a comparable # of images to a 36 print traditional film roll. I believe consumers demand at least 24 pictures before download or disc/card swap as well as 35mm print quality. LSI + Clik appears to be the first announced system to meet these CURRENT demands. It is precisely because current digital cameras don't meet these demands that they have not been adopted throughout the "snapshot" marketplace at this time (IMO).
