CHET IDZISZEK AND RICHARD MAZUR JOIN BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF ROXGOLD
Roxgold Inc. has appointed Chet Idziszek and Richard Mazur to the board of directors of the company. To facilitate the addition of these two gentlemen to the board of directors, Robert McMorran has resigned as a director, but will continue to serve as the chief financial officer.
Mr. Idziszek currently serves as president and chief executive officer of Oromin Exploration Ltd., and brings to the company a wealth of experience. In 1990, Mr. Idziszek received the Mining Man of the Year award in recognition of his vital role in the discovery and development of the Eskay Creek gold deposit in Canada, as well as the prestigious Prospector of the Year Award for 1994 in recognition of the major role he played in the discovery and development of the Eskay Creek gold deposit, and for his leadership of Adrian Resources Ltd., during its exploration and development of the Petaquilla copper-gold-silver-moly deposits in the Republic of Panama. He also served as director of Arequipa Resources Ltd., which discovered the Pierina gold deposit that was subsequently acquired by Barrick Gold Corp. in mid-1996 for more than $1-billion.
Mr. Mazur, PGeo, MBA, is a geoscientist who has held positions in the international exploration and mining industry for over 30 years as a project geologist, financial analyst and senior executive on uranium, gold, base metals, coal and industrial minerals projects in North and South America. Mr. Mazur worked over a 10-year period (1974 to 1984) as a uranium exploration geologist in Saskatchewan, Nunavut, Yukon, Ontario, Quebec and the Maritime provinces for Pan Ocean Oil Ltd. Currently he is also a director of Alto Ventures Ltd., Impact Silver Corp. and Tanqueray Resources Ltd. Mr. Mazur graduated with a bachelor of science degree in geology from the University of Toronto in 1975, and obtained a master of business administration degree from Queen's University in 1985. |
