A longshoreman pulling $200k would probably disagree. A small number controlling a choke point can get away with ridiculous excesses for a long, long time. Expand the influence too wide and the destruction becomes obvious over time. The part unions played in the destruction of industrial America is forgotten.

Meanwhile, the ordinary folk who again support thuggishness probably will never puzzle out what they did when the bills come due.
