Also, you most knee-jerk rejections are weak. There are plenty of examples of non-ultra mafic pt deposits, _and_ ones with _both_ au and pt, including one with a higher pt to au ratio. In fact, one is the most famous never developed (due to politics), hydro-thermal au-pt deposit in recent mining history.

BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. wrong. there are not plenty of examples of ore grade deposits that produced platinum that are not mafic or ultramafic. there are precisely non. sorry. There are always suites of mafic or ultramafic rocks by the square mile. Gabbros, Basalts, Diabase, Anorthosites. Norites. Troctolites. Peridotites, Charnokite. At least diorites. I know of one good diorite that runs in platinum. But is is probably altered to diorite. You could do it with andesite. Kambalda is close to that.

Famous never developed mines because of politics? hmmmm...whose politics the wookies or the purple fringe thetans with the golden sceptre of aueromeias?
