Question on shorting stock.

In order for their clients to go short brokerage loan out stock that we investors hold in our margin accounts, and the brokerages charge a fee to the borrowers for this lent stock.

Why don't we, the actual owners of the stock, get a cut for lending it out to the shorts?

I can't think of a single brokerage that offers their clients compensation for lending out their own stock. Why not?
