The headset has me baffled. I would have to play with it hands on to see what the problem is.

Or if could take a screenshot of the message you get when it's plugged in with Jing and post it, maybe we could get a better idea whats going on.

Is the headset a combo headset/mic jack, or do you have one for the speakers and one for the mic?

Some computers are going to one jack for speakers and mic.
