I have the HP DM1Z netbook computer that comes with Windows Home Premium 64-bit OS & a 320GB hard drive.
basically, the computer is telling me I have 246GB free space available on an indicated 278GB.
The computer is in it's native state.

I have a Intel X25-M Sata SSD, 80GB, I want to install.
Everything is new. I am deleting a few of the bloat installations
as I see fit before I swap the drives.

I have read as much as my brain can compute.
Is it preferable to download the OS and all the peripherals to an external HD or thumb drive, swap out the HD, and then download the OS back onto the SSD?
Will I run into a signature problem with Windows re-installed on the SSD?

just curious as to whether there is an easy way to do this.

thanks much for your help.
