I run into the drive signature issue constantly because I use an older version of Acronis. Newer releases of this software claim to have this issue fixed. I cannot verify this because I don't have their current products at my disposal.

I do NOT claim that Acronis is the ONLY software that works with Vista and Windows 7.

Western Digital and Seagate provide complimentary copies of Acronis True Image for download. It's version 11, and although it finds disk signatures challenging, one cannot beat the price.
