Ted, HSR makes more sense in the East Coast than the West Coast. Between LA and SF there is a huge low-density population area that isn't going to get any better anytime soon, at least not with the current Sacramento politicians.

You're wrong. Utterly and completely wrong. There are so many flights per day between SFO and LAX its ridiculous. Passengers on those flights will be siphoned off by HSR. The trip from SF to LA will take around 2 1/2 hours. The same amount of time it takes to fly between the two cities and get to their downtown areas.

I'd like to verify your claim that 99% of HSR lines throughout the world are "profitable." Doesn't sound like it could be true unless you count government subsidies as "profit."

What subsidies?
