Al, > i think teachers hold a very important profession and have been significantly underpaid for a very long time...what do you think?

How much do professors make? About $100K/year?

I think teachers ought to make half of what professors make given the lower degree requirements and the fact that teachers only have to work like nine months out of the year.

So $50K sounds about right. Maybe a little more. Plus good benefits and a generous pension upon retirement.

The problem with the teaching profession, however, is that a lot of teachers experience burnout. They're expected to do a lot more than just teach. They're expected to babysit and accommodate to the most disruptive and slowest learners in the class.

And neither side is addressing this issue. Not union-loving Democrats and not budget-cutting Republicans.
