ElM, tell me when you have given up laying fibre and gone back to cutting cane for a living, then I'll know that it's time to dump tech and get into farming. From what I have seen, there is no shortage of land and the so-called food shortage is actually a political shortage - those "hungry" countries need Virtuous Victorian Values, then the food will come like manna from heaven. The simple cancellation of agricultural subsidies such as for turning food into fuel or leaving land fallow would leave a lot more food looking for customers.
