"Teachers should be revered..instead we demonize them and pay them less then a factory worker." Why??? Because.....using your own words... "...only the lowly among professionals embark on a teaching career these days" To reverse this process....set high standards, fire teachers that don't meet those standards and hire ones that do. Productivity will increase and pay will follow. In order to do this.....unions are going to have to be neutered.
