FUD = Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt

And it certainly captures the key marketing strategy of IOMG's "competition". As a time-tested marketing technique, it's one of the best, but it's also a crutch which serves as a substitute for real products that offer genuine competitive advantage. The fact that IOMG hasn't reached for this crutch (which it surely could have by hyping the 200Mb Zip, 2Gb Jaz, etc.) speaks volumes both for the strength of their current competitive position as well as their confidence about their true competitive position looking forward.

The recent deals with giants like Seagate, Sony, and now Matsushita should "remove all doubt" not only about IOMG's ability to execute but also about the quality of company that is emerging here.
