Actually, Andrew, that is a very formitable question to answer. What you are alluding to, or so I believe, is the extensive due diligence that I perform prior to making an investment decision.
You will also notice that I attempt to develop a personal one-on-one relationship with the chief geologists at each company. They are absolutely IMHO the best source of useful and accurate information. I have found that it is pretty useless to have a meaningful and productive discussion with someone whose sole purpose in life is "to sell me quality beachfront propery in Kansas at really terrific, bargain basement prices."
While I do not feel that it is appropriate to answer that question for many reasons, not the least of which is the famous saying, "Don't tell me what to buy. Tell me when to buy it." Or, translated, "The money is made in the buying" as Brian Fagan of Asia World Stock Report likes to say. There is a little trick that I have personally found useful from time to time.
Just refer to any post that contains an individual that you wish to research. Just go to a post in which that individual's name is highlighted in blue, and then simply click on the name. You will then gain access to a list of all of their posts, from the newest at the top to the oldest at the bottom.
Of course, that does not mean that you should "buy their opinions and choices at face value". Such a policy is a sure ticket to the poor house. It can, however, be one of many useful sources for generating leads that you then do your own homework on. Investigate thoroughly, then make your own decisions.
Personally I like to gather a lot of information from a lot of quality sources. It seems the best technique.
As to the best stock picker that I know of? Right now, it would have to be Bob Bishop of "Gold Mining Stock Report". He is currently on a roll. You may wish to give him a call and ask for a free sample copy.
Fagan is good, but his newsletter is really too new to rate as to overall stock picking ability. So far, though, he is looking really good. Also, he educates and informs more than most other newsletters. He is still giving a complete anthology of back issues free with new subscriptions which is a great short course on investing in itself.
Oh boy, I'm beginning to sound like an "infomercial". Yeeck.
I'm nice, but I really do talk too much!
Good fortune, Andrew. JED |
