I've been told that GTW has a high rating for customer support. In my book that's pure fiction. The other day I ordered additional ram from them to beef up my computer. I paid through the nose for it, but I was assured that 1) the ram would come with instructions to help me install it and 2) the tech people would guide me through it. Well, guess what? The ram arrived sans instructions of any kind. None. Nada.

So what do I do without instructions? I get on the horn to see if I can rouse someone over at tech support to tell me how how and where to install these flimsy little pieces of plastic and metal that cost the so dearly. So I dial up GTW. I listen to their ridiculous message (actually it's cute first time through, but quickly gets annoying) punch up tech support and get put on hold. 30 seconds go buy. A female recorded voice gets on the line. Sorry, tech support is busy. Try back later. Click.

I redial. Same message. Same story. Click. So somehow I manage to install the damn thing myself. I figure if I blow it, I'll refuse to pay. Fortunately, after 1/2 an hour I figure it all out and I'm up and running.

So, GTW made a sale and lost a customer. If I had known that I was going to have to go it alone, I could have saved ~50% and bought the part at CPU.
