Dear Dr. Akins,
I write to you as a representative of a small, but fiercely loyal group of shareholders in Cymer, Inc. Collectively, we represent approximately one percent of the publicly owned shares of Cymer. Being 'high-tech' investors, our consortium is an organized group that regularly converse via the Internet, through avenues such as Silicon Investor and America On-Line. The purpose of this correspondence is to request an informal meeting, at you convenience, for approximately one hour. this said meeting is requested for either the week of November 17th, during your visit to New York, or the following week, November 24th at Cymer Headquarters in San Diego.
The purpose of this meeting is two-fold. We would like to personally extend a 'vote of confidence' for the outstanding job management has done during the tumultuous past two months. Also we would like to potentially address some concerns and questions that were not asked of you in the last conference call by the analysts. This informal meeting may also potentially have positive effects in the public relations area for our company. We realize that with the strict confidentiality agreements we have with our customers, any positive publicity is good publicity.
