Life force is a distressingly soft concept imo. Since it is vaguely compelling albeit irreducibly vague, I am sure that philosophers have discussed it 'til the cows come home. But has the concept been advanced beyond poetry? I haven't found an instance. It's hard to define, harness, even test something so vague for falsifiability. The mandate for definition is not exclusive to science. All philosophy benefits from it.

It reminds me of that NPR person, I forget who, who wrote a book called "Vague but True!".
